Who we are

LMD Auto Locksmithis a mobile auto and home locksmith operating across South & West Wales, and is a trading name of Lee Dawkes, a sole trader. This website is lmd-auto-locksmith.co.uk. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What we collect and why

Quote and contact form

When you submit the quote form we collect your name, telephone number and, if you provide them, your email address, vehicle details, location and the message you write. We use this only to reply to your enquiry, quote for the work and arrange the visit. The form is submitted to our email inbox through Resend, our email delivery provider.

Telephone calls

When you ring us your number is stored on the phone we answer with, along with any details you give us about the job. We do not record calls.

Job records

For work we carry out we keep a record of the job: your name and contact details, the address or location attended, the vehicle registration, make and model, the key or lock supplied, and the amount charged. We need this to deal with any follow-up visits or complaints, and to meet our tax and accounting obligations.

Proof of ownership documents

Before working on a vehicle or property we check ID and proof of ownership. Wherever possible we simply view these and note that the check was made. We do not routinely keep copies, and where a copy is taken it is kept only as long as needed as evidence that the check was carried out.

Photographs of completed work

We photograph keys and completed jobs for our own records and, sometimes, for our website and social media. Photographs published publicly do not identify you and we crop or obscure registration plates and other identifying details. If a photo of your vehicle has been published and you would rather it were not, get in touch and we will remove it.

Website analytics and advertising

Where enabled, this site uses Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking to understand how people find and use the site and which adverts lead to enquiries. These services set cookies and may collect your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and the referring site. This is used in aggregate - we are not trying to identify individual visitors.

The site is hosted on Vercel, which processes standard server request logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability.

Social media

If you message us through Facebook or Instagram, those platforms handle your data under their own privacy policies, and we see whatever the platform shows us.

Our lawful bases

• Contract - handling your enquiry, quoting, attending, carrying out the work.
• Legal obligation - keeping accounting records, and checking entitlement before opening a vehicle or property.
• Legitimate interests - keeping job records so we can deal with return visits, complaints and disputes, protecting the site from abuse, and running our business.
• Consent - analytics and advertising cookies, and publishing any photo that could identify you. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only with:

• Resend, which delivers the quote form emails to our inbox;
• Vercel, which hosts this website;
• Google, for analytics and advertising measurement where those are enabled;
• our accountant, for tax and bookkeeping purposes;
• key and lock suppliers, where a part has to be ordered against your vehicle - normally just the vehicle details;
• the police or other authorities, where we are legally required to do so.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by the UK approved safeguards, such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not lead to a job - up to 12 months, then deleted.
• Job records and invoices - 6 years from the end of the relevant tax year, as required for accounting purposes.
• Website analytics - retained by Google under their own retention settings, typically no more than 14 months.

Cookies

The site itself does not need cookies to function. Cookies are set only by Google Analytics and Google Ads where those are enabled, to measure visits and conversions. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; doing so will not stop the site working.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

• ask what personal data we hold about you and get a copy;
• have inaccurate data corrected;
• ask us to delete your data, where we do not have to keep it for legal or accounting reasons;
• ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
• ask for your data in a portable format;
• withdraw consent for analytics, advertising or photography at any time.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

Our services are not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the business or the website changes. The current version is always the one published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
